Norman
served 26 years in the army and finished as the senior
warrant officer in the Army Physical Training Corps, responsible for all
physical, recreational and adventurous training. During his military career,
he worked with many high profile units. He went on over 30 expeditions
to many parts of the world and led many of the later ones. It was on these
that he gained a great wealth of experience in Action Learning techniques.
After a full career, he left the Army in October 1989 and moved into the
consultancy world, joining Thomas Owen and Klove Ltd, Management Consultants
as an action learning specialist both indoors and out. The main areas
of the business at this time were team building, leadership and the management
of change. He was responsible for designing and delivering programmes
for its many blue chip clients. This included designing and developing
action learning tasks and packages for the varied types of programmes
and conferences.
Now specialising in action learning in the areas of team building, leadership
and team maintenance. He has designed a considerable number of business
simulations and a vast task portfolio. The work on this is ongoing in
developing and expanding tasks for the use on programmes both indoors
and out. The main focus during acton learning sessions is the transferability
of the experiences back to the work place in terms of behaviours, group
dynamics, processes and interference factors within performance. Ensuring
that value is added to any programme or project undertaken.
