Fans see Wolves thrash Leicester

Showing more understanding in attack than the visitors, Wolves proved too good for Leicester City in the return match at Molineux, winning by four clear goals. Attendance was 9,763.

After the first quarter of an hour it was obvious that Leicester would not show up againt Woves' defence. They never worked as a line, and it was on only a few occasions that Scott was seriously troubled. He made one magnificent save from Dewis in the second half.

On the other hand Grant, the Leicester goalkeeper, was constanly in action. His best stop was from a terrific cross shot sent in by young Stephens - one of many thrills.

Wolves went ahead after 34 minutes,Finch converting a good pass from Aquroff. This was all the scoring in the first half.

Still attacking strongly and with determination, Wolves added to the score after 49 minutes. This was after Dorsett had got the ball in the net, but the referee disallowed the point and gave a free kick against Dorsett for hands.

Aquroff's goal came from Finch's pass, and he easily beat Grant with a well-placed shot. The Wolves' leader scored a third after 57 minutes, and this was due to a misunderstanding in the City's defence. He was allowed to go through, and shot into an empty goal.

Best goal of the match came from Aldecoa five minutes before the end. It was a cross shot sent in at a terrific pace. Grant never saw the ball.

I thought Ashton was the pick of the halves with his cool dealing of wily Dewis, who got a couple of goals at Filbert Street last week. Aquroff and finch were an effective partnership, and Aldecoa saw more of the ball than Stephens. Dorsett, as usual, worked hard, but had few shooting opportunities.

Billy Crook had a hard match and was well to the fore with some good through passes. Scott was always safe.

Leicester's best players were Grant, Dewis, Gemmell and Harrison, the latter deputising for Howe, injured last week. Seventeen-year-old Revie on the right wing never got a chance.

Wolves can feel very pleased at the start of the season. Three opints from two games is good going, for Leicester is not one of the weakest of Midland clubs.
