Wolverhampton judo aces Densign White and Elvis Gordon enjoyed VIP treatment today when they went to Buckingham Palace for a date with the Queen.
They are both members of Wolverhampton Judo Club and sponsors Manders laid on champagne and a Rolls-Royce for them and trainer Mac Abbott when they headed for a garden party at the palace to honour the nation's best sportsmen and women.
British competitors who have lifted world titles or their equivalent were invited to the party.
Teacher Densign won the middleweight gold medal in the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland to add to the bronze medal he collected in the Seoul Olympics.
Elvis, reigning British Open super-heavyweight champion, struck gold in the Commonwealth Games and was a silver medallist in the world championships.
The pair set off for Barcelona on July 21 for the Olympic Games.
