Police were wondering today how long a derestriction sign on the Bridgnorth Road at Wollaston, Stourbridge, has been facing the wrong way - and how it was turned around in the first place.

There were signs on both sides of the road. Both should announce the end of the built-up area one way and its beginning the other.

But until today, one of the signs was reversed. Puzzled motorists coming into the town found the sign on their nearside announcing a derestricted section.

Although hundreds of motorists must have passed the about-turn sign, no one reported them until an Express & Star reporter told the police.
