Froggatt gets all fired up

Winger Steve Froggatt is hoping for one last chance to transfer his fearsome shooting power from the training ground onto the field of play before Wolves "go public'' in their sell-out Molineux friendly against Manchester United a week tomorrow.

Froggatt is one of only four players - Mark Rankine, Darren Simkin and a struggling Chris Marsden are the others - yet to play a full game out of the 20 manager Graham Taylor brought on tour to Scandinavia.

But, before the squad return home on Thursday, he isrelishing the prospect of sharpening his skills in tomorrownight's farewell game.

After promising 45-minute appearances in the club's opening two games last week, the £1m former Villa winger has been forced to sit out the victories overSmedby and Kristianstad with a hip injury.

But he has made good progress and expects to be let offthe leash against Division 4 leaders Asarum.

Froggatt plundered his first Wolves goal in the 6-1 slaughter of Solve six days ago, but it has been on the training ground that hisnew team mates have had their eyes opened to his ability.

I watched a prolonged shooting session by the whole squad just after the start of the trip, when Wolves' players were amazed by the ferocity of the England under-21 players left-foot.

He hit the net or stung the fingers of keeper Mike Stowell with all of his strikes of a moving ball from around 20 yards and, in the frequent training runs, has also proved himself to be among the fittest and quickest members of the squad.

"I'm really looking forward to having another game,'' said Froggatt, who has shown glimpses of his crossing ability in the two matches in which he has featured. "There have been no serious problems _ just a muscular injury around my hip.''

Wolves' players who haven't had a single day off during their stay here, were back in training this morningdespite an assortment of minor bumps and bruises and a lot of blistered feet.

Their training ground has become firmerwith each passing hot, dry day, but Taylor and his coach Steve Harrison are happy with what they have seen both during and between games so far.

One of the sources of their satisfaction has been Geoff Thomas, who continues to become stronger as he joins in with virtually all the work done by his colleagues.

Thomas was rested last night, but only as a means of allowing other players to be given a lengthy outing.
